RIVER OF DENIAL explores one family’s harrowing experience at the culmination of a deadly domestic violence situation.
With its use of deeply personal home videos shot by the filmmaker and her husband, the documentary is an exploration of the denial that kept Megan in an increasingly abusive dynamic, as well as an exposé on the factors that eventually led to love turning lethal.

The film's focus:
Intended to raise awareness about potentially deadly domestic violence situations, Megan shares her family's experience in order to spark conversation about what society can do to help people (victims and perpetrators alike) in a similarly perilous situation - before it's too late.
RIVER OF DENIAL offers an intimate glimpse inside Megan's family as the dark force of abuse began to take over. Throughout the documentary feature, Megan guides us on a gripping emotional journey through the illusions that kept her ignoring the warning signs of an increasingly deadly situation. Remarkably, her husband also shares his own unfolding psychology leading up to the violent, tragic crossroads that shattered their family.
With a cinematic and poetic use of videos shot by the filmmaker and her husband, the film touches on numerous topics related to intimate partner violence, such as: The desperation of certain abuse that can hint toward high risk of lethality, the impact on children who witness violence at home, stereotypes of victims as helpless or dependent.
